A mini rant about pizza

You what? ‘Oh no, it’s the credit crunch, we can’t afford decent food so we’ll have to eat at Dominos!’ ???

Dear lord, even if I couldn’t cook I wouldn’t conside Dominos a bargain! At university we got pizza from there about once, until we realised it was twice the price of any other takeaway pizza and defected to Kebabland or somewhere. And, to be fair, there probably are people who could buy a pizza for £3 in a supermarket and wouldn’t know how to cook it in the oven, but even so… I’m not even certain a pizza from Dominos is cheaper than eating out at ASK or Zizzi’s or somewhere. (And they do takeaway for £5 a pizza.)

*shakes head sadly*

zizzi’s is definitely cheaper. we used to have one next door to our pub. and the pizzas are loads better too. Dominoes is rubbish. A friend ordered a Dominoes pizza to our house and now we’re inundated with menus, leaflets, vouchers and even a fridge magnet. According to Mark Thomas, Dominoes donate money to fundamentalist Catholic anti abortion groups, and I am pro-choice so thats a big no no for me (although obviously everyone is entitled to their belief – but I’m not going to fund something I don’t believe in!)

Anyway, you should definitely support your local cheap kebab-y! Stimulating the local economy and all that. 😉

“Environmentalists have often been guilty of presenting people with a mental image of the world’s least desirable holiday destination – some seedy bed and breakfast near Torquay, with nylon sheets, cold tea and soggy toast – and expecting them to get excited about the prospect of NOT going there. The logic and the psychology are all wrong.”

"I am, of course, firmly opposed to consumerism and corporatism in all its forms, and I believe that we are deeply confused about material needs and wants. Now let me explain how books and yarn are totally different than the material things that other people want ;-)…."

"Biofuels, which is the preposterous policy that we should grow food not to eat it but to set it on fire."
